Today marks International Women’s Day 2018 and we here at Direct Digital are proud to celebrate the strong women within our team and around us. The theme of this year's International Women's Day is #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. We are pleased to say many of our Senior Managers and Influencers are female and very much paving the way to our success. We have asked our team members to give us quotes and talk about the women who have influenced their lives.
“Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create.”
- Oprah Winfrey - Neil, Publications Manager
“The woman that has inspired me in my life is my mother Carol Davidson because over the last 20 years she has worked tirelessly and for no gain of her own to support the homeless people of Blackpool. She ran her own Christian charity new life mercy mission for 15 years and has set up numerous soup kitchens that are still running today as well as providing socks, underwear, blankets and getting many people off the streets and into full-time accommodation. For the last 5 years as well as the homeless people of the town she is now focusing on making sure their dogs are well fed, de-fleed wormed and warm. She does this every night and throughout the day. I take her to the harder to reach people once a week”
– Brad , Sales Manager
“The woman that has inspired me in my life is Jenni Roach. Because she inspired me to keep pushing forward whether it came to employment or family circumstances. She inspired me to be more open with people”
– Robbie, IT Department
To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone
- Reba McEntire - Janine, Accounts Department
“My inspirational woman is an artist I have been enjoying recently. Her name is Sammus. She is a woman of colour who is a rapper and loves video games. She samples video game soundtracks in her work, she is a PhD candidate and is an amazingly talented performer. I was lucky enough to speak with her at a couple of gigs on her recent UK tour. She is insightful, progressive and understanding. She has so many feathers in her cap and is amazing at what she does. She’s a shining example for black women and living proof that you can destroy labels, having a wonderful career doing it “
– Matt, Marketing Manager
“Elegance is when she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside”
– Coco Chanel - Wendy, Media Manager
Behind every successful woman is herself.
